The international mobility regime provides for certain permits for the family members of holders of the permits established by Ley 14/2013.
The specific position depends on who the principal permit holder is and on the circumstances of each family member.
That is why, from the outset, we analyse:
Spouse or partner, where the relationship falls within the cases provided for by law.
Children and descendants who meet the applicable conditions.
Certain family members who may fall within the regulations.
There is no universal family solution. There is a suitable solution for each family structure.
The first question
Who is really part of your life plan?
Before preparing any documentation, we need to know:
- who the principal permit holder is
- which permit they hold or will apply for
- who their family members are
- their ages
- their family relationship
- where they are
- whether they will travel together or later
- and what their status in Spain will be
Because small details can change the legal route available.
The children
When there are children, the planning changes.
A family’s arrival involves far more than obtaining a permit. It may involve:
- school
- health insurance
- housing
- documentation
- travel
- residence
- family taxation
- wealth
And, depending on the circumstances:
- custody
- consents
- documentation from the other parent
- international family situations
A child’s residence should not be analysed in isolation from the situation of their parents.
The documents
A family also has a documentary history.
Depending on the case, the following may be required:
- marriage certificates
- birth certificates
- evidence of the partnership
- evidence of dependency
- identity documents
- documentation of the principal permit holder
- criminal record
- insurance
- financial documentation
- and the additional documents required in each case
When documents come from different countries, we also review matters such as:

- consistency between documents
When a family comes from several countries, the file also has to learn to speak several languages.
